AlUla Old Town boasts 900 homes, 500 stores, and five town squares.

The UNWTO event was hosted at the Maraya Concert Hall on Sunday, March 12th, under the name "Tourism — Changing Lives" to highlight achievements in tourism.

The event was a forum for knowledge-sharing on topics such as best practices, community empowerment, and public-private partnerships.

UNWTO's Best Tourism Villages initiative recognizes villages that are an outstanding example of a rural tourism destination with accredited cultural assets.

It also recognizes villages that preserve community values and lifestyle yet have a commitment to innovation and sustainability in economic, social, and environmental aspects.

AlUla is an ancient crossroads of civilizations in northwest Arabia that is now emerging as a global destination for cultural and natural heritage.
