Saudi Arabia denied entry to more than 300,000 pilgrims who arrived in Makkah but did not register for a Hajj permit to perform the pilgrimage this year.

The group includes 153,998 pilgrims who arrived in Makkah on tourist visas instead of Hajj visas. 

Saudi's Ministry of Interior revealed that they have stopped 140 fake Hajj campaigns and 64 carriers for breaching regulations for Hajj this year. 

The ministry also shared that they turned away 97,664 vehicles carrying pilgrims without a valid permit. 

On Thursday, Jun. 6, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah revealed that 1.2 million pilgrims had arrived in the country for Hajj this year. 

Hajj is the annual Islamic pilgrimage that Muslims are obligated to perform once in their lifetime because it is one of the five pillars of Islam.
