Patient Details and Medical Findings
The case, documented in the Respirology Case Reports journal by doctors from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila, involves a 22-year-old male with no prior health issues. Despite being described as healthy and non-smoker, he died due to heart attack in 2023, following severe lung injury associated with vaping.
Medical Explanation and Warning
Dr. Riz Gonzales from the Philippine Pediatric Society Tobacco and Nicotine Control Advocacy Group explained that the patient's lungs exhibited signs of inflammation and vaping-induced swelling. This condition, referred to as EVALI, led to blockages in the heart's arteries, resulting in a heart attack.

With six recorded EVALI cases in the Philippines, health advocates emphasize the dangers of vaping and the need for stricter regulations to safeguard public health, particularly among the youth.
