Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 Dates Announced

Saudi Arabia continues to support both local and international artists by launching the Diriyah Biennale Foundation and hosting the Kingdom’s first-ever art biennales. The latest addition to this cultural initiative is the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, officially scheduled to take place in Jeddah from Wednesday, January 25, to Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The Islamic Arts Biennale will be hosted at the iconic Western Hajj Terminal at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport. This groundbreaking event offers guests an exclusive opportunity to explore the rich and varied arts of Islamic civilization, both historical and contemporary.

The Biennale aims to celebrate Saudi Arabia as the birthplace of Islam while facilitating artistic exchanges with global communities. Artists are invited to delve into the aesthetics of spirituality, fostering new conversations and insights.

Last year’s Biennale theme was "Awwal Bayt" (First House), a phrase from the Qur’an referring to the Kaaba in Makkah, the most sacred site in Islam. While the theme for the 2025 edition is yet to be announced, updates will be available on What’s On Saudi Arabia.

Before the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, Saudi Arabia will host the Diriyah Contemporary Arts Biennale 2024. Taking place in the JAX District in Diriyah, Riyadh, the 2024 edition features a stellar line-up of artists and introduces its curatorial framework titled “After Rain.” This event, unfolding across seven halls, courtyards, and terraces along Wadi Hanifa, symbolizes renewal and revitalization, inspired by the earthy scent following rainfall.
