Plans Revealed for Madinah Airport's Expansion!

Madinah's airport, the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport has revealed its expansion plans, which will improve the travel experience of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The expansion plans will allow the airport, the closest airport to the Prophet's Mosque, to handle 17 million passengers per year by 2028.

The designs for the airport's expansion have been approved and work at the airport will commence this year.

For the expansion, the existing Terminal 1 building will be converted into an international airport, with a new terminal dedicated to Hajj and Umrah charter flights.

Domestic flights are being relocated to a new 39,000 square feet terminal, which will be connected to Terminal 1 via a newly constructed pier.

The new terminal will have three levels and the design for this terminal will also use modular steel palm-tree-shaped columns that exist in the current airport.

The new terminal will also uphold the same sustainable standards that helped it receive the LEED Gold certification.
