In a remarkable medical achievement, an Algerian pilgrim's life was saved following a seven-hour surgery in Makkah after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.

A specialized medical team at the Neuroscience Center of King Abdullah Medical City, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, successfully performed the intricate surgery on the 70-year-old pilgrim.

The ordeal began when the pilgrim lost consciousness at the Algerian Hajj mission’s headquarters. He was urgently transferred to King Faisal Hospital, where initial tests indicated the need for advanced care. Consequently, he was moved to King Abdullah Medical City. A CT scan revealed a significant brain tumor, necessitating immediate surgical intervention.

The precise surgery, conducted by a team of neurosurgeons and anesthesiologists, lasted seven hours. During this complex operation, the tumor was completely removed, and the patient regained consciousness. The surgery was supported by comprehensive care from the neurology department, neurosciences ward, and physical therapy teams.

Post-surgery, the pilgrim was discharged in good health and returned to his mission’s headquarters to continue his Hajj rituals. Expressing his deep gratitude, the pilgrim praised the medical team for their exceptional efforts and the high level of care he received. This successful surgery underscores the advanced capabilities of King Abdullah Medical City in handling complex medical cases and providing top-tier healthcare to pilgrims and visitors.
